How is cheek implant surgery performed?
An incision will be made either inside your upper lip or your lower eyelid to create a pocket in the cheek and an implant is inserted. The surgery takes 30 to 45 minutes.
How long is recovery time from cheek implants?
It takes about one week to recover, however swelling can last up to 3 to 5 months.
An alternative to to cheek implants are dermal fillers. The problems with this filler is that they are placed in subcutaneous fatty tissue. Unfortunately, these tissues shift down with gravity and aging creating nasolabial folds and jowls around the mouth. Fillers also can create granulomas, which are a mass of cells that form due to inflammation. Granulomas must be surgically removed.
