All About Chemical Peels

How much do chemical peels cost?

Chemical peel prices vary by type. For light chemical peels, patients can expect to pay between $150 and $300. Heavier peels cost more.  Deep chemical peels cost between $2500 to $6000, which includes consultation, anesthesia, and follow-up care.

How are chemical peels performed?

Light chemical peels are usually are performed with a solution that contains glycolic acid, lactic acid, fruit acid, or salicylic acid. Light chemical peels work by removing the outer layers of the skin to smooth out fine wrinkles and rough skin.  While the price of this chemical peel is the lowest of the three  types, light chemical peels usually must be repeated multiple times for optimal results.

Medium chemical peels are performed with trichloroacetic acid to smooth out fine surface wrinkles, remove superficial blemishes, and to correct uneven skin tone and pigmentation problems. Medium chemical peels typically cost from $1000 to $2000. This treatment can be used on the neck and body as well as the face, and is recommended for darker-skinned patients. When evaluating medium-depth chemical peel cost, you should keep in mind that medium chemical peels usually need to be repeated every two to three months.

The deep chemical peel, otherwise known as a phenol or advanced peel, is performed only once. A deep peel can give more dramatic, longer-lasting results than the lighter peels by smoothing coarse wrinkles and even removing pre-cancerous growths.

How long is the recovery period?

For light peels, most people go back to work the same day. Heavier peels take 2 weeks for recovery.
